Could a simple surgical tweak prevent painful ulcers after Weight-Loss surgery?

NCT ID NCT05357443

Summary

This study is testing if preserving a specific nerve (the vagus nerve) during gastric bypass surgery for weight loss can help prevent painful ulcers that sometimes form after the operation. Fifty adult patients having this surgery will be randomly assigned to have the nerve either cut or preserved. Researchers will track hormone levels before and after surgery to see if nerve preservation lowers ulcer rates.
