Breakthrough gel aims to restore feeling in Gender-Affirming surgery

NCT ID NCT05897086

Summary

This study is testing if applying a special gel called polyethylene glycol (PEG) during phalloplasty surgery can help nerves heal better and improve sensation in the new phallus. The goal is to enhance both touch and sexual sensation, which is a top priority for patients, and improve overall quality of life after surgery. Researchers will compare outcomes in about 30 patients who receive the gel-assisted nerve repair to standard surgical techniques.
