New surgical technique aims to prevent Life-Altering side effects of rectal cancer surgery

NCT ID NCT04949646

Summary

This study is testing a special nerve monitoring technique during surgery for rectal cancer. The goal is to help surgeons avoid damaging important nerves that control bladder, bowel, and sexual function. Researchers will compare quality of life and function in patients who receive this monitoring versus standard surgery to see if it reduces common and distressing side effects.
