Numbing shot before skin cancer surgery may ease pain and worry

NCT ID NCT07222241

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study tests whether giving an extra numbing shot (a nerve block) before Mohs surgery for skin cancer on the face or scalp can lower pain and anxiety during the procedure. About 150 adults will be randomly assigned to get either a real nerve block or a placebo (salt water) shot, on top of the usual numbing medicine. The goal is to see if the extra block makes the surgery more comfortable.
