New nerve blocks aim to slash pain and opioid use after breast surgery

NCT ID NCT07001657

Summary

This study compared two different nerve-blocking techniques to manage pain after breast cancer surgery. Researchers tested whether a Pectoral Nerve Block or a Serratus Posterior Superior Intercostal Plane Block was better at reducing patients' pain and their need for opioid painkillers in the first day after surgery. The trial involved 118 female patients to see which method provided better pain control and recovery quality.
