New nerve block could ease agony of heart surgery recovery

NCT ID NCT06895876

Summary

This study tested a specific nerve block injection to see if it improves recovery and reduces pain after open-heart surgery. It involved 128 patients in France who had surgery through the breastbone. The goal was to see if this block provides better pain relief than standard methods, especially when patients need to cough or move, and to reduce the need for strong painkillers like morphine.
