Targeted nerve block tested to cut opioid use in liver procedures

NCT ID NCT06618781

Summary

This study looked at whether a specific nerve block, injected near the spine, could help control pain for people undergoing a procedure to examine or treat blocked bile ducts in the liver. Researchers compared patients who received the nerve block along with sedation to those who received sedation alone. They measured how much strong pain medication (opioids) was needed during the procedure and tracked patients' pain levels afterward.
