Nerve block trial aims to ease breathing struggle after obesity surgery

NCT ID NCT07022600

Summary

This study tested whether a specific nerve block, given during surgery, could help prevent weakness in the main breathing muscle (the diaphragm) after weight loss surgery. It involved 80 severely obese patients having a sleeve gastrectomy. Researchers compared patients who received the nerve block to those who did not, measuring breathing muscle movement and lung function after surgery.
