Targeted nerve block aims to slash pain and opioid use in common procedure

NCT ID NCT06618781

Summary

This study observed patients undergoing a bile duct imaging procedure to see if a specific nerve block, called a lateral quadratus lumborum block, helps manage pain. Researchers compared patients who received the nerve block with sedation to those who received sedation alone. The main goal was to see if the block reduced the need for strong opioid painkillers during the procedure and improved pain control afterward.
