Numbing shot tested to ease agony of achilles surgery

NCT ID NCT06886815

Summary

This study is testing if adding a specific numbing shot (a popliteal nerve block) to standard pain medicine helps people feel less pain and need fewer opioid pills after surgery to fix a torn Achilles tendon. Researchers will compare the numbing shot to a placebo (a dummy shot) in 80 patients having this surgery. They will also track recovery time, nerve complications, and how well people can return to normal activities.
