Nerve block tested to protect brain during risky lung operations

NCT ID NCT07432230

Summary

This study looked at whether a specific nerve block, used to control pain after chest surgery, also helps keep the brain well-oxygenated during the operation. Researchers monitored 102 adults having major lung surgery that required breathing with only one lung. They checked if the pain-blocking injection could improve blood flow to the brain and reduce the need for strong painkillers during surgery.
