Summary
This study aimed to understand why people start using drugs, become addicted, or seek treatment by looking at neighborhood and environmental factors. Researchers observed over 1,600 adults in Baltimore, comparing people who don't use drugs with those who do. Participants provided health information and samples over two visits a year apart, but no treatment was offered.
