First seen Apr 01, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 5 times

Summary

This study tests whether a special vacuum dressing (negative pressure wound therapy) can improve healing of the perineal wound after rectal cancer surgery. About 100 adults who had chemoradiotherapy followed by surgery will be randomly assigned to standard care or the vacuum dressing. The main goal is to see if the vacuum reduces infections within 45 days after surgery.
