Light and gentle touch: a new combo tested for neck pain relief
NCT ID NCT06416527
First seen Jul 29, 2026 · Last updated Jul 30, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This trial tests whether combining a gentle manual therapy called pompage with photobiomodulation (a type of light therapy using LEDs) can reduce pain and improve neck movement in people with chronic neck pain. Adults aged 18 to 55 with non-specific neck pain will be randomly assigned to receive either pompage alone or pompage plus light therapy for 10 sessions. Researchers will measure pain levels and neck disability before and after treatment.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- a combination of manual therapy (pompage technique) and photobiomodulation using a cluster of LED lights
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could point toward a drug-free, non-invasive way to reduce chronic neck pain and improve mobility.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage trial with only 30 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The benefits of either technique alone are not yet proven.
