Could inhaled stem cell particles help repair scarred lungs?
NCT ID NCT07515066
First seen Apr 07, 2026 · Last updated May 08, 2026 · Updated 8 times
Summary
This early study tests whether inhaling tiny particles from stem cells (called extracellular vesicles) is safe for people with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), a disease that scars the lungs. Nine adults will receive different doses twice daily for a week, with monitoring for side effects and lung function changes over a year. The goal is to see if this approach is safe enough for larger studies.
