New breathing machine aims to get patients off ventilators faster
NCT ID NCT05595733
Summary
This study tested a new ventilator setting called NAVA for people with obstructive lung diseases like COPD who need help breathing. The goal was to see if this smarter mode, which syncs better with the patient's own breathing signals, could reduce the number of days they need to be on the ventilator. Researchers compared it to standard ventilator settings in 50 patients to see if it helped them breathe independently sooner.
