Honoring heritage: video program aims to help native hawaiian elders share their final wishes
NCT ID NCT04771208
Summary
This study is testing a video program designed specifically for Native Hawaiian elders to help them with advance care planning—the process of discussing and documenting their wishes for medical care if they become seriously ill. The program uses culturally respectful videos to explain the process and allows participants to record personal video messages about their wishes to share with family and doctors. Researchers are measuring whether the program increases knowledge about care planning, reduces confusion about decisions, and leads more people to complete their care plans.
