Nose sensor may spot oxygen drops faster than finger clip

NCT ID NCT06398262

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study tested a new oxygen sensor that clips onto the nose instead of the finger. The nose is less affected by poor blood flow and closer to the heart and lungs, so it may detect low oxygen levels earlier. Researchers compared the nose sensor to a standard finger sensor in 56 adults during and after abdominal surgery. The goal was to see if the nose sensor works as well or better for monitoring oxygen levels.
