Simple nasal spray could protect sick kids from surgery breathing scares

NCT ID NCT07000877

Summary

This study is testing if a simple nasal decongestant spray given right before surgery can reduce breathing problems in young children (aged 1-8) who have a cold and need anesthesia. Researchers will compare the spray to a placebo (dummy spray) in 200 children to see if it lowers the risk of coughing, airway spasms, or low oxygen levels during and after surgery. They also want to know if children, parents, and doctors find the spray easy and acceptable to use.
