Spray away the pain? new ER study tests nasal relief for stitches and draining

NCT ID NCT06284473

Summary

This study is testing if a nasal spray containing ketamine can help reduce pain during minor, painful procedures in the emergency room, like getting stitches or having an abscess drained. About 108 patients (ages 7 to 70) will be randomly assigned to receive either the ketamine spray or a placebo saline spray along with the usual numbing medicine. The main goal is to see if patients who get the ketamine spray report feeling less pain during their procedure.
