Can oxygen during exercise supercharge lung rehab for ILD patients?
NCT ID NCT07679854
First seen Jul 01, 2026 · Last updated Jul 01, 2026
Summary
This trial investigates whether adding high-flow nasal oxygen during exercise training can improve endurance and quality of life for people with chronic fibrotic interstitial lung disease (ILD). Participants undergo a 4-week pulmonary rehabilitation program, receiving either high-flow oxygen or standard oxygen during cycling exercises. The study measures how long they can exercise at a constant workload, along with walking distance and breathing comfort.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
high-flow nasal oxygen
What this could lead to
If it works, this approach could make pulmonary rehabilitation more effective for people with ILD, helping them exercise longer and breathe easier.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with 60 participants. The benefits may be modest, and high-flow oxygen may not be practical or comfortable for everyone.
