Summary

This study tested whether a small, implanted pellet of the medication naltrexone could help adults with moderate to severe alcohol use disorder reduce their drinking. 210 participants received either a low-dose implant, a high-dose implant, or a placebo implant, along with counseling. Researchers tracked their drinking habits and safety for up to 48 weeks to see if the implant was effective and safe.
