New drug may prevent dangerous gut issues in brain injury patients on ventilators

Summary
This study tests if naloxegol, a drug that blocks opioid side effects in the gut, can prevent constipation and pneumonia in brain-injured patients in the ICU. About 370 adults on ventilators and opioids will receive either naloxegol or a placebo. The goal is to see if early treatment reduces complications and improves outcomes.
