Scientists investigate why brown fat fails with age
NCT ID NCT06627868
First seen Feb 28, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 11 times
Summary
This study looks at why brown fat, which helps burn calories and maintain a healthy weight, becomes less active as we age. Researchers think a drop in a molecule called NAD+ may be responsible. They will measure insulin sensitivity and brown fat activity in 68 adults of normal weight or with obesity. The goal is to see if boosting NAD+ could one day help prevent obesity and type 2 diabetes.
