NCT ID NCT07229456
First seen Nov 17, 2025 · Last updated Jun 15, 2026 · Updated 24 times
Summary
This study looked at whether giving N-acetyl cysteine (NAC) and vitamin D, along with standard care, can help children who swallowed a corrosive substance. The main goal was to see if these treatments could prevent narrowing of the food pipe (strictures) and speed up recovery. Eighty children were split into four groups: standard care alone, standard care plus NAC, standard care plus vitamin D, or standard care plus both. The results may offer a simple way to reduce serious complications.
