New hope for kids who swallow dangerous chemicals

NCT ID NCT07229456

Summary

This study is testing whether adding two supplements, N-acetyl cysteine (NAC) and vitamin D, to standard hospital care can improve recovery for children who have swallowed corrosive substances like strong cleaners or acids. It aims to see if these treatments can reduce painful scarring in the throat and stomach, shorten hospital stays, and help kids eat normally again sooner. Researchers are comparing standard care alone against care plus NAC, vitamin D, or both in 80 children.
