Double defense for young eyes: can a One-Two punch stop nearsightedness?
NCT ID NCT06358755
Summary
This study is testing whether using two methods together—low-dose atropine eye drops and special spectacle lenses that create peripheral defocus—is more effective at slowing the progression of nearsightedness in children than using the eye drops alone. It involves 112 Hong Kong Chinese children aged 7 to 12 who are already nearsighted. Over 18 months, researchers will measure changes in their eye prescription and eye length to see which treatment combination works better.
