New glasses could slow Kids' worsening eyesight
NCT ID NCT06034327
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether special spectacle lenses can slow the progression of myopia (nearsightedness) in children aged 6 to 8. About 150 kids will wear either the test lenses or regular lenses for up to 3 years. Researchers will measure changes in eye focus and eye length to see if the lenses help control myopia.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
special spectacle lenses designed to slow myopia progression
What this could lead to
If successful, these lenses could offer a simple, non-invasive way to slow worsening nearsightedness in young children, reducing the need for stronger prescriptions.
What could go wrong
This is a mid-stage trial with only 150 children, and results are based on 12-month predictions for 3-year effects. The lenses may not work for all children or may have limited long-term benefit.
