Mustard gel could replace expensive dental material in Kids' cavities
NCT ID NCT07557290
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study compares mustard gel, made from black mustard seeds, to a standard dental material (MTA) for treating deep cavities in baby molars. 72 children aged 6-8 will receive one of the two treatments after the damaged nerve is removed. The goal is to see if mustard gel can keep the tooth pain-free and healthy on X-rays for up to 3 months, offering a cheaper and natural alternative.

What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a low-cost, natural option for treating deep cavities in baby teeth, reducing the need for expensive materials.
What could go wrong
This is a very early Phase 1 trial with only 72 children. Mustard gel may not work as well as MTA, and its safety in this use is not yet proven.
