Music lessons after cochlear implant may sharpen hearing in noise
NCT ID NCT06734897
First seen Dec 10, 2025 · Last updated Apr 23, 2026 · Updated 15 times
Summary
This study looks at whether six months of music therapy, started right after getting a cochlear implant, can improve a person's ability to understand speech in noisy environments. Thirty adults aged 18 to 85 who are getting a new cochlear implant will be randomly assigned to start music therapy immediately, after a six-month delay, or not at all. Researchers will measure speech understanding in noise at six and twelve months after surgery to see if music therapy makes a difference.
