Zapping muscles to fight ICU weakness

NCT ID NCT06409611

Summary

This study is testing whether a daily session of electrical muscle stimulation can help prevent severe muscle loss in patients who are on a ventilator in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Researchers will use ultrasound to measure muscle size and quality in patients' legs over 10 days. The goal is to see if this non-invasive therapy helps preserve muscle strength and may improve recovery.
