New handheld scanner could replace MRI for muscle disease monitoring
NCT ID NCT07502989
First seen Apr 05, 2026 · Last updated May 07, 2026 · Updated 5 times
Summary
This study is testing a device called the mScan that uses a tiny, painless electrical current to measure muscle health in about 6 seconds. Researchers want to see if it can give similar information as an MRI, but faster and more conveniently. The study involves 150 adults with and without muscle diseases like muscular dystrophy or myositis. If successful, this tool could help doctors easily track how well treatments are working over time.
