Ancient leaf tested as new Weight-Loss aid for metabolic syndrome

NCT ID NCT07451639

Summary

This study tested whether adding a mulberry leaf extract supplement could help people with early signs of metabolic syndrome lose more weight while taking the common diabetes drug metformin. Fifty overweight adults who had been on stable metformin treatment took either the supplement or a placebo for 12 weeks. Researchers measured changes in body weight, waist size, blood sugar, and cholesterol to see if the supplement provided extra health benefits.
