Antibiotic pill tested in battle against 'Superbug' throat carriers
NCT ID NCT04104178
Summary
This study tested whether adding an oral antibiotic (clindamycin) to the standard skin and nose treatment works better at clearing MRSA bacteria from people's throats. It involved 53 adults who still carried MRSA in their throat after one round of standard treatment. Participants were randomly assigned to receive either the antibiotic or a placebo pill along with the standard regimen to see which group was more likely to test negative for MRSA one month and six months later.
