AI-Powered MRI tool could replace costly scans for Parkinson's diagnosis

NCT ID NCT04334902

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study tested a software called mPDia that uses MRI images to help doctors diagnose neurodegenerative parkinsonism, a group of brain disorders that includes Parkinson's disease. Researchers compared the software's accuracy to the current standard test (PET/CT) in 221 adults. The goal was to see if mPDia could reliably identify the condition using just MRI, which is more widely available and less expensive.
