First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 33 times

Summary

This study tests whether a store-bought mouthwash (octenident®) can reduce a type of amoeba (Entamoeba gingivalis) that lives in the mouth and can cause inflammation. Forty healthy adults who have this amoeba will use the mouthwash twice daily for a week. Researchers will measure amoeba DNA before and after to see if the mouthwash helps control the infection.
