Summary

This study tested whether motivational interviewing, a type of counseling, could help people who had back surgery (lumbar discectomy) reduce disability and improve quality of life. 72 participants were randomly assigned to receive either standard care or six sessions of motivational interviewing focused on adapting body mechanics. The study measured disability and quality of life using standard questionnaires.
