Summary

This study looked at whether motivational interviewing—a counseling style that helps people change habits—can reduce disability and improve quality of life in patients who had lumbar disc surgery. 72 adults who had their first discectomy took part. The experimental group received 6 sessions of motivational interviewing focused on adapting to proper body mechanics. The study measured disability and quality of life using standard questionnaires.
