New device could help save preterm babies by tracking belly oxygen
NCT ID NCT05278247
First seen Jan 10, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 17 times
Summary
This study tests a new device that uses light to measure oxygen levels in the abdomen of preterm infants. Preterm babies are at risk for life-threatening conditions that reduce oxygen in tissues, and current devices are not reliable on the belly. The study will enroll 50 stable preterm infants born before 35 weeks to see if the device is safe and provides consistent readings.
