New study tests easier rules to spot ventilator complications

This study looks at 200 adults in the ICU who need a breathing machine (ventilator) for at least 48 hours. Researchers want to see if using less strict definitions for ventilator-related problems can better predict how long patients stay on the machine and their risk of death. The goal is to improve care without adding extra tests or treatments.
