Can a reshaped chemo combo tame lymphoma with fewer side effects?
NCT ID NCT07739654
First seen Jul 31, 2026 · Last updated Aug 11, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This Phase 3 trial compares a modified version of the standard DHAP chemotherapy regimen against the original in adults with relapsed or refractory diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). The modified regimen spreads out the cisplatin and cytarabine doses over several days, aiming to reduce kidney damage and other severe side effects while keeping the treatment effective. About 74 participants will be randomly assigned to receive either the modified or standard DHAP, and researchers will measure how well the lymphoma responds and how tolerable the treatment is.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- A modified chemotherapy regimen (DHAP) that splits cisplatin and cytarabine into smaller doses over several days, instead of giving them as a single large dose.
- What this could lead to
- If the modified DHAP works as well as the standard but with fewer side effects, it could become a gentler, possibly outpatient, option for people with relapsed or refractory DLBCL.
- What could go wrong
- This is a relatively small trial, and the modified regimen might not be as effective as the standard. Chemotherapy still carries risks like kidney damage and low blood counts.
