Texts and videos for healthier babies: nepal tests mobile intervention
NCT ID NCT06431581
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether a mobile health program—including educational videos, text messages, and reminder calls—can improve birth weight and reduce preterm births among pregnant women in Nepal. About 494 women will be randomly assigned to receive either standard care or the mobile health intervention. Researchers will track birth weight and gestational age at delivery to see if the mobile tools make a difference.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
mobile health intervention (educational videos, SMS messages, and reminder phone calls)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could show that simple mobile health tools help pregnant women have healthier babies, potentially reducing low birth weight and preterm births in low-resource settings.
What could go wrong
This is a single-site trial in Nepal, so results may not apply elsewhere. The intervention is behavioral, so its success depends on how well women engage with the messages.
