Phone app aims to simplify gum disease detection
NCT ID NCT07424612
Summary
This study tested whether a mobile app could accurately classify gum disease severity compared to traditional dental exams. Researchers compared diagnoses made by a student using the app, a student using manual methods, and a clinician using manual methods in 122 adults with periodontitis. The goal was to see if technology could help standardize and potentially simplify the complex process of diagnosing and staging gum disease.
