Scientists map a fatal brain disease in children

NCT ID NCT01325025

Summary

This study aimed to better understand how a rare and severe childhood brain disease, called Metachromatic Leukodystrophy (MLD), damages the brain over time. Researchers used advanced brain scans on 29 young children (some with MLD, some without) to track the disease's progression for six months. The goal was to gather detailed information to help identify patients for and measure the effects of future experimental treatments.
