Blood test may reveal hidden immune activity in heart disease
NCT ID NCT05708547
First seen Nov 21, 2025 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 18 times
Summary
This study looked at how immune cells change in people with coronary atherosclerosis (plaque buildup in heart arteries). Researchers compared blood samples from 61 heart surgery patients with and without plaque to find a new way to detect these changes without invasive procedures. The goal was to understand the role of a cell process called mitophagy, not to test a treatment.
