Hope for rett syndrome: old drug tested for new relief

Summary

This study is testing whether a common antidepressant called mirtazapine can help ease symptoms of Rett syndrome, a rare genetic disorder. It will involve 54 girls and women (ages 5-40) with Rett syndrome. Researchers will give the drug for six months to see if it improves mood, sleep quality, and control of hand movements.
