Smaller incision, faster recovery? heart bypass trial tests new approach

NCT ID NCT04795193

Summary

This study is comparing two ways to perform heart bypass surgery for patients with severe blockages in their coronary arteries. It will test if a newer, less invasive technique (using a small chest incision) leads to better quality of life and physical recovery one month after surgery, while still being as effective as the traditional open-chest method at keeping the new bypass grafts open. The trial will involve 248 patients, some of whom will be randomly assigned to one of the two surgical methods.
