Mindfulness may lower stress and inflammation in mental health caregivers
NCT ID NCT03745235
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 15, 2026 · Updated 29 times
Summary
This study looked at whether a mindfulness-based stress reduction program could improve psychological health and reduce inflammation in caregivers of people with severe psychiatric disorders like schizophrenia or bipolar disorder. Researchers planned to randomly assign 80 caregivers to either a mindfulness meditation group or standard care, measuring stress levels and blood markers of inflammation. The study was terminated early with only 27 participants enrolled, so results are limited.
