Scientists try to trigger migraine 'Aura' to find new treatments
NCT ID NCT07342296
Summary
This study aims to understand if a specific brain chemical, called PACAP-38, can trigger the visual or sensory disturbances (aura) that some people experience before a migraine headache. Researchers will give this chemical or a placebo (inactive substance) to 21 adults who have migraine with aura. The goal is to learn more about what causes aura, which could help develop future treatments to prevent these migraine episodes.
