Zapping fibroids: new microwave treatment aims to spare women surgery

NCT ID NCT07235787

Summary

This study is testing a minimally invasive procedure called microwave ablation to treat painful uterine fibroids. Doctors will use ultrasound to guide a thin needle into the fibroid and apply microwave energy to shrink it, aiming to relieve symptoms like heavy bleeding while preserving the uterus. The study will follow 20 premenopausal women for 6 months to see if the procedure safely reduces fibroid size and improves their quality of life.
