Blood clues: could MicroRNAs unlock mental illness in women with toxoplasmosis?

NCT ID NCT07346833

First seen Jan 18, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This study looks at 55 women who have a chronic infection from a common parasite (toxoplasmosis) and a mental health condition like schizophrenia, depression, or bipolar disorder. Researchers want to see if small molecules in the blood, called microRNAs, can help tell these conditions apart. The goal is to better understand how the infection affects mental health, not to test a new treatment.
