Scientists investigate hidden germs in Kids' lungs to improve bronchitis care
NCT ID NCT07255430
First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 18 times
Summary
This study looks at how the mix of bacteria and viruses in the airways of children with a long-lasting cough (protracted bacterial bronchitis) affects their immune system. Researchers will also see how the standard antibiotic treatment changes these germs and immune responses. The goal is to better understand the disease, not to test a new treatment. About 160 children will take part.
